Symbolic Wedding in Thessaloniki

Eben and Magdalena tied the knot in Greece, Thessaloniki. It was a truly multicultural wedding that united cultures, people and experiences. Eben, originally from Ghana, and Magdalena, originally from Greece, although they live in England, got married in Thessaloniki. I am always moved by such projects as the demands are very high.

From Southampton to Greece

Eben and Magdalena are permanent residents of England – two fantastic people with great vibes who decided to join their lives in Magdalena’s place of origin – Thessaloniki. Together we planned their wedding as there were many details that needed attention.

The wedding planning

Initially a very important point is that of the ceremony. There were two ceremonies – first one was performed by Eben’s father who is a pastor and the second was the civil wedding which was performed by the relevant Greek municipal authority. As a wedding photographer I had to be ready for everything that would follow as these are very important moments that cannot be missed.

So based on the above data and all the details we created the corresponding timeline so that everything is organized with exact times and there is nothing that we will leave to chance.

The wedding day

Both the preparation of the groom and the bride took place at the Royal Hotel – in different suites. We first started with the groom’s preparation. In Eben were his best man and his relatives. It was a really special preparation as he and his best man are both serving in the Royal British Army and their bonds were very strong.

The groom’s preparation is almost always at a more relaxed pace and this gives us the opportunity for images with more relaxed vibes. So here Eben’s friends helped him get ready and we also created unique images of these moments. Eben’s friends dressed in the traditional Ghanaian wedding outfit – the Kente. We used several locations of the hotel as it offers a wide variety of beautiful backgrounds.

The preparation of the bride was done together with a lot of friends in a relaxed and cool vibe as she was herself. Once her hair and makeup was done we were ready to start our photo shoot. Along with plenty of MOET champagne Magdalena and her friends got ready, laughed and gave me unique clicks. After she put on her dress we were ready for the ceremony.

We captured the set up that had been prepared and the girls who greeted the guests with cello and violin. Eben was already at the ceremony site ready to see the woman of his life for the first time as a bride. So when Magdalena arrived everything was ready for the ceremony to begin.

As mentioned before two ceremonies were held. It was a very moving process which brought together traditions and cultures. Eben’s father mentioned very moving words as everything that took place had special symbolism. The Greek ceremony followed and now the newlyweds had formally joined their lives.

The couple’s photo shoot at the Royal Hotel followed. In a short time we were photographed as the light was just before sunset. However, the result captured the joy and mood of the day.

The wedding reception was held outside at the Ethereal Hall, by the pool. All the guests dined together and thus ended the coverage of such a special wedding beautifully. It is truly beautiful to see people joining their lives and relatives from completely different parts of the world coming together. That is the meaning of love!
